Colorful Minds are Interesting Ones
Why so beautiful?
This was a window on the villa I stayed at in Ubud. I was so overwhelmed by the beauty of everything in Bali. Because of the surburban sprawl of look alike strip malls where I live, I was smitten with even the most minute detail. There was so much attention paid to the tiniest of things..which made them impossible to ignore. Even the daily offerings of fresh flowers, fruit and incense was a festival for the eyes. And it continually made me feel like i was missing something in my everyday life back home. It certainly reminded me how much I dislike Sam's club. Large, excessive and uninspiring.
Can't get Bali off the brain...
Oh sigh...I wanted these to be a small collage...a lesson in patience. Anyways, I borrowed a couple of these off of Anahata's blog http://anahata.typepad.com/my_weblog. Just a glimpse into our amazing Bali art retreat. Ana's altar, Balinese kids coming home from school, my wallpaper art project and my hands after a day of art. I can still hear the ocean, motor bikes and the local people asking "where are you going?" every time I walked out of the villa. It's starting to fade though. And I feel myself longing for it. That and the womb of creativity we created.
Moving into fearless
Well, truth is I don't like writing and I am not so good at it. I wanted to just post photos. But the writing makes it so much more interesting. I was actually going to just scrap this blog and start over. My perfectionism takes hold...that is why I have 100 journals with one or two pages written. I am not happy with how I started, so I have to get another journal to start over. BUT, I decided to stick with this blog. Make it a work in progress. I am not happy with any of it today...but I am going to see if I can gradually watch it evolve. I was so inspired by Jena's blog http://fearlessjourney-jenafer.blogspot.com. She weaves her story and accepts it as it unfolds. Thanks Jena.
Ever since returning from Bali I have been painting like mad. I started with these beautiful girls and then started to move onto some more personal art. Things like "don't fuck with me" which is how I am feeling these days.

Bali 2009
Just a sampling of my amazing trip to Bali. The smells, colors, people and landscapes are forever etched in my mind. I could have gotten lost there forever. I went for an art retreat and met 18 other women from around the world. Anahata Katkin was the artist who shared her incredibly inspiring spirit with all of us...

A visit to moms
Happy New Year!
Here's to a new year filled with amazing possibilities. There are so many things to be grateful for. I am dreaming of a retreat in Bali, a newly painted bedroom and the creative inspiration to continue repurposing things around the house.
